Senate Bill 1418.
The senator says that his research shows there are companies in the food industry that have used human stem cells to help them research and develop products, including artificial flavorings.
To that end, his proposed statute reads, “No person or entity shall manufacture or knowingly sell food or any other product intended for human consumption which contains aborted human fetuses in the ingredients or which used aborted human fetuses in the research or development of any of the ingredients.”
Here’s something to consider –doesn’t the industry ALWAYS fight against labelign their food products? Why Would they want to admit to THIS?
Do we KNOW the truth? No, but we should be demanding ANSWERS & PROOF.
In The New American, Debi Vinnedge, founder and director of Children of God for Life, points out Senomyx’s own published research has shown that it uses cells from the HEK-293 line. The New American has more from Vinnedge:
She explained that the cells, officially known as HEK-293, were cultivated from the kidney tissue of the aborted baby, and then frozen. “From that point, the cell line is made available for sale by several companies, like American Type Cell Culture. The cell line is then shipped to buyers maintaining cold-chain temperature and subsequently either thawed for use or frozen in the buyer’s lab for future use. When it’s thawed, the cells are cultivated to produce more cells.”
She added: “PepsiCo and Senomyx can get away with saying that they’re not taking the cells directly from a fetus, even though they are ultimately from an aborted baby, and the cell line still contains the full DNA from that baby, no different than if you were taking it directly from the fetus.”
She noted that “morally, it makes no difference whether an abortion was done 30 years ago or today. Time does not diminish the original act of evil, nor does it lessen the culpability of those who knowingly and willingly utilize the remains of aborted children for profit.”
Coming full circle, the pro-life groups protesting the use of cells from aborted fetuses research by StemCells, Inc. or Senomyx state that there are other alternatives, such as adult stem cells. Fischbach said, “Unborn babies deserve dignity, not dissection and destruction.”
The Miami New Times summarizes those claims, notes the company’s denial of them — and also notes that in 2003, the company filed a patent for “recombinant methods for expressing a functional sweet taste receptor.”
That patent, for what is essentially an automated taste test, was granted in 2008. It mentions HEK 293, or Human Embryonic Kidney 293, a widely available cell line–”
According to LifeSiteNews.com, certain patent documents reveal that fetal cell lines from an electively aborted child are being used in the development of flavor enhancers produced by a company called Senomyx although the cells themselves do not end up in the final product. Among customers who use Senomyx’s flavor enhancer are companies such as Nestle and Pepsi Cola. Campbell’s Soup has dropped its contract with Senomyx.
In U.S. Patent number 7,297,543, Senomyx states: “The invention provides a preferred mammalian cell lines, e.g., HEK-293 cells that stably express T1R2/T1R3 and G.sub..alpha.15 under inducible conditions. These cells are useful in cell-based assays for identifying compounds that elicit or modulate sweet taste.”
We know for certain your makeup is gotten in ugly ways–“What they do not tell the public is that they are using HEK 293 – human embryonic kidney cells taken from an electively aborted baby to produce those receptors,” stated Debi Vinnedge, President for CGL, the watch dog group that has been monitoring the use of aborted fetal material in medical products and cosmetics for years.”
I say call every company which you eat products from and ask–and ask for proof–in writing–
IF THEY WONT LABEL FOR GMOS– AS THEY “—WILL CAUSE WIDE SPREAD PANIC—”
WHAT is the reaction going to be when you learn you are eating the Gerber baby?
Why would they tell you? That’s what I am asking.
